A Mind Muted

A cold evening and somehow the noise has died down. I find my way up to the top of my apartment for no particular reason. The day was good.

The breeze was strong, yet somehow it slowed down, as if in a mark of respect to me it seems to have bowed to me. It’s not gushing any more, just flows down gently singing a soothing note and cool just enough to send surprising a chill down me now and again.

The Healing Power Of Laughter

Posted on February 27, 2008 - Filed Under Self Improvement | Leave a Comment

I believe the more we laugh the longer we will live. Laughter is one of the greatest forms of healing. I think it is great to try and make other people laugh and feel good inside to improve their mental and spiritual outlook on life. I love to laugh. My teenage sons like to poke fun of the way I laugh because I laugh long and loud. Laughing in this way obviously runs in my family because my mom and two sisters laugh the same way I do. It seems when we girls get together we never stop laughing, and we aren’t even laughing at anything funny. Is this how God intervenes in our lives to bring us the joy of laughter? I think it is.

The Way To Happiness

Posted on February 13, 2008 - Filed Under Self Improvement | Leave a Comment

Are you 100% happy all the time? Of course you are not! That would be impossible, right? Actually, it is not impossible but it certainly is not normal. Most people find themselves upset quite often and many people are downright depressed most of the time. If you are not depressed, you at least feel a lot of worry and anxiety a lot of the time and probably get angry about things quite regularly. What many people are surprised to hear and probably do not believe is that there are some people who are happy almost 100% of the time and it is not an accident that they feel that way. There is actually a way to happiness that can be found by virtually everyone but it requires an intense desire and a concerted effort to make yourself feel that way each and every day. It is not impossible and it is not such a bad idea to think about trying it for yourself!

Happiness Is An Attitude

Posted on February 1, 2008 - Filed Under Self Improvement | Leave a Comment

So much of the time our attention focuses on the things beyond our reach at the expense of the many blessings at our feet. One of the keys to happiness on Earth is not in having everything we want, but in wanting everything we have. This, simply put, is an attitude of gratitude.

I’m not talking about losing a loved one or some traumatic occurrence for which grieving is a natural process, just the way you look at everyday existence. That’s what determines our general outlook on life and the general quality of our mental health. It’s all in the way we think, or the mechanics of our thought process.

Happiness

Posted on January 29, 2008 - Filed Under Arts and Entertainment | Leave a Comment

Happiness is an interesting concept. What makes somebody happy? What can you do to be happy? Happiness isn’t just an in-the-moment thing; it is your state of being, at least, for a moderate while. People can become depressed, unmotivated, disheartened, and discouraged for many reasons, and depending on the magnitude, the sadness can replace the happiness as a state of being. However, if one is normally happy and then becomes sad because of, say, a funeral, that does not mean they have lost their happiness, it is just temporarily gone, in alternative to actually being displaced.

Getting Unstuck

Aristotle said that living well was the end. And, yet today, at a time when our access to knowledge, information and technology are unsurpassed in human history; and our standard of living is higher than ever before, few of us are truly living well.

Too many of us begin and end our days with a feeling that something is missing from our lives. Some of us feel that we are at the end of our rope, because we are living and working faster than ever before, and yet the satisfaction, the fulfillment that we derive from our lives, our work, and our relationships is cursory.

Six Big Reasons Why You Should Learn To Let Go

Posted on December 3, 2007 - Filed Under Self Improvement | Leave a Comment

Tears of sadness streamed down my face as I did what I knew I had to do. LET GO! Why was I crying? Because in my heart, I knew I had to write the goodbye letter, but my head really didn’t want to! Why does letting go cause us so much pain? Is there an easier way to release objects, relationships, and situations? You bet there is, but it’s something you’ll have to LEARN to do.
