15 Strategies For A Successful Online Business

Posted on January 12, 2008 - Filed Under Internet |

1- Create A Mailing List!

This is a necessity and a very important aspect of your business.

I’m sure you’ve heard: “The Money Is In The List”. When it comes
to your online business, truer words were never spoken[or written
for that matter].
You must have a mailing list to keep in touch with your customers
and prospects. Do whatever it takes to get visitors to sign up to
your list. Offer them a free report, a free e-course, or a free e-book,
to suggest a few, just for subscribing to your list.
Promote your list “Everywhere”. On your website, in your e-mails,
in forums and discussion groups. Everywhere you can think of.

2- Start Your Own Newsletter Or Ezine.

This will be your main tool for keeping in contact with your
subscribers. The choice of topics is unlimited. Just make sure the
subject matter fits in with your niche market, and you give them
useful and valuable information.

3- You Need Your Own Website.

Do not set your website up geared towards direct sales.
It’s more important to attract visitors and get them to sign up for
your list. Put a sign-up form on every page of your site.
You can sell to them later, after you’ve gained their trust and established
a relationship with them.

4- Start An Affiliate Program.

This can generate a wealth of income for you.
Provide links to your newsletter subscription instead of right to your
products or services to make a sale. The idea is to get traffic to your site,
then follow up in e-mails and your newsletter.
If your affiliates are sending visitors to your site for a “Free Gift” instead
of to buy something, don’t you think you’ll get more click-throughs?

5- Limit Your Products.

Some companies claim to have thousands of products to sell.
It’s hard enough to stay focused on your marketing efforts with 8-10
products to sell. Forget about 10,000

6- Put A Signature File In Your E-mails.

A signature file is a small block of text at the bottom of all e-mails
you send. Here is an example:

Free 5 Part Marketing E-course and
Marketing Tips Newsletter.
Get yours now at:

Take advantage of this free advertising avenue. If you don’t have a
signature file set up yet, then you need to do so.

7- Automate.

Don’t do the same things over and over that can be automated.
Your subscription sign-up form can be set to automatically send a
thank you e-mail.You can automate your newsletter subscription.
Your autoresponder system will add and remove subscribers and will
follow-up with them at the intervals you set.

8- Develop Your USP.

This is your Unique Selling Perspective.
Why should a customer buy from you instead of your competition?
What are you offering that no one else is?

9- Sell Content Not Products.

Since your in business to make money, this may sound strange.

But as I mentioned before, the best way to sell to a customer is by
gaining their trust first. The only way to do this is by pre-selling.
That’s what your newsletter is for.

10- Sell On Every Page.
For example, you can advertise a special offer on your subscription
“Thank You” page.Put your subscription sign-up form on all your pages.

11- Write Extremely Powerful Headlines and Descriptions.

These can make or break you. Your headline is the first thing your
visitor sees when they arrive at your site. You must grab their attention
immediately. Be sure to hold their interest and attention in your subheadings
and your sales letter.List the “Benefits” the customer will receive over the
features of the product. Your customer only cares:- “What’s In It For Me”.

12- Spend a Minimum of 30 Minutes a Day on Your Business.

You need to set time aside to market and promote your business in an
ongoing daily routine. You can use a different advertising avenue each day
if you like, just so you do something. Don’t be afraid to try something new.
The important thing is to work at it everyday.

13- Use Newsletters and Ezine Advertising.

You do not want to advertise in newsletters to sell a product right away.
Instead place an ad with only one purpose in mind, “To get subscribers to
your list.” In order to be really successful you need to have a large list of
subscribers. ” The Money’s In The List ” Remember?

14- Enjoy What You’re Doing.

You need to get exited about your business and have fun building it.
When you are passionate and having fun with your business, you will put
in a lot more effort to accomplish your goals.

15- You Need Your Own Mailing List!

Oh, I said that already. Well pay attention. It’s that important. It’s the
best marketing tool you will have. Treasure and nurture your list. Work
on building your list everyday, and the rewards will fall into place.
